A formal photo list has the same shape from wedding to wedding: the couple, each side's family, the wedding party, stepping down from the big combined shots to individuals. Build that shape once as a template, and every wedding after it generates the list from the couple's own family and wedding party answers, rather than you retyping the same rows each time.
Your studio's shot list templates
Open Shot Lists in the main navigation, then Customize template. A template is a list of groupings, rows like "Couple + Immediate Family" or "Bridesmaids", each one naming who belongs in that shot. Groupings live in one of three columns (Wedding Party, plus one family column per partner), so a template can step through each side independently.
You don't have to build one from nothing. Start from a standard formals template creates a template named Standard formals already stocked with a full ladder: the whole party together, then wedding-party groups stepping down to individuals, then each family column running from the biggest combined shot down through parents, siblings, and grandparents to step-family and extended family. Treat it as a working starting point to trim and reorder rather than a fixed list. Start blank is there to build your own from scratch.
Templates aren't tied to a specific wedding; they're saved at the studio level and available every time you generate a list. Duplicate one before you start editing it to try changes without touching the version already in use, rename any of them, or delete one you don't need anymore.
Generating a wedding's shot list
From a wedding, generating a shot list runs your template against that couple's actual Family & Wedding Party answers. Daymarked walks every grouping and fills it in with the real names that match, so "Bridesmaids" becomes the actual list of bridesmaids the couple gave you, and each family column reads with the right side's names. If your studio has more than one template, you pick which one to use at generation time.
One more choice at generation: Separate formals splits the list into "Before the Ceremony" and "After the Ceremony" bands, for a wedding with no first look where the couple can't be photographed together until after they're married. Leave it unchecked for a single list.
Regenerating a shot list replaces its groupings with a fresh run against the same template and the couple's current answers, useful once the family list is more complete than it was the first time you generated. A custom title you've set on the list survives regeneration; only the groupings themselves are rebuilt.
The people sidebar
A wedding's Shot List tab shows a Family & Wedding Party sidebar alongside the list, mirroring the couple's answers: the wedding party, each partner's family, and anyone marked as shared between both sides. The sidebar is read-only, a reference while you look over the generated list, not a second place to edit people. To edit, click Edit people to jump to the Family & Wedding Party tab itself.
Keep the sidebar in view while you're checking whether a generated grouping looks right, or while you're still waiting on a few stragglers from the couple before it's worth generating the list at all.
